A requirement for admission to the Master’s degree program is the successful completion of undergraduate studies (B.Ed.). The Master’s degree program is divided into two academic years. The first year includes the branches of genetics and microbiology and is to provide an intensification of the knowledge of didactics in the field. The students will then use the second year for majoring in whatever module they chose to concentrate on and prepare and write their Master’s theses.

The teaching-related Bachelor’s and Master’s degree program includes modules in biology didactics as well as subject-specific modules. The module catalog provides an overview of the content and organization of the entire course. It is available for download.

After the B.Ed. Biology degree program, you will complete your program of study with the M.Ed. Biology. This qualifies you to teach the subject of biology at grammar schools and you will be well prepared for this! In the 3rd semester you will find a wide range of practical modules from the modern fields of knowledge of Biology Mainz.

An M.Ed. degree also gives you the opportunity to apply your knowledge and teaching skills to other professional fields, such as nature and environmental education. You can pursue further academic qualifications and a doctorate.
