Requirements / organisational issues

The course adresses M.Sc. students and relies on knowledge obtained during the B.Sc. studies. It is recommended to previously attend ExPhys 5b / Exp B (particle physics). The course materials are in English, the course itself can be held in German or English.

Contents

Astroparticle physics is at the intersection of particle physics, astro physics and cosmology. The lecture aims to give an overview of the following topics: 

  • The expanding Universe and cosmological models
  • The Early Universe
  • Dark Matter 
  • Cosmic Radiation 
  • Neutrino Astronomy 
  • Graviational waves

Additional information

The course is  2x 90 minutes per Week. Initially some lectures will be replace by exercises, in later parts of the course talks by the participants will be added.
