<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<\/jgu-base-section>\n\n Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz is a member of the European university alliance FORTHEM<\/a> since 2019. <\/p>\n\n\n\n FORTHEM is one of 60 European university alliances<\/a>, funded by the European Commission\u2019s Erasmus+<\/a> initiative. The alliance consists of nine universities from nine different countries that are working to strengthen transnational cooperation in the fields of education, research and innovation.<\/p>\n\n\n<\/jgu-base-tabsitem>\n\n Before the lecture period officially begins, the International Office organizes the Welcome Week for all international students with a varied program including campus and city tours, information events and advising services.<\/p>\n\n\n\n During the introduction week, we will provide our international students<\/a> with all the important information they need at the beginning of their studies and offer plenty of help to get them started.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The International Office\u2019s Welcome Center<\/a> is the central contact point for international researchers and their families. We offer advice on all non-academic and practical issues and support you in planning, preparing and realizing your research stay at JGU.<\/p>\n\n\n<\/jgu-base-tabsitem>\n\n Mobility <\/strong>and scholarships<\/p>\n\n\n\n The International Office is the central point of contact for students, researchers, artists, and staff who would like to spend time abroad. <\/p>\n\n\n\n Outbound students<\/em> can choose between a variety of destinations and programs. The Erasmus+ program<\/a> is the largest exchange program in Europe and gives you the opportunity to spend one or two semesters or a shorter period of time abroad. JGU also offers many other funding programs covering destinations around the world.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Inbound students<\/em> can also apply for scholarships (e.g., from the Rhineland-Palatinate Scholarship Foundation<\/a>. The International Office supports and accompanies members of partner universities from all over the world and welcomes guests from institutions with which JGU has not yet concluded a cooperation agreement. <\/p>\n\n\n<\/jgu-base-tabsitem>\n\n The Gutenberg International Conference Center [GICC]<\/a> is part of the International Office. It is funded through the German Research Foundation (DFG) as part of the German government\u2019s Excellence Strategy program.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The GICC is JGU\u2019s national and international \u2018research hub\u2019. It organizes conferences and workshops in fields of cutting-edge research at JGU and provides a platform for building networks and collaborations in order to strengthen exchange and dialogue among academics and research units from all over the world.<\/p>\n\n\n<\/jgu-base-tabsitem>\n\n The International Office coordinates the implementation of the university-wide internationalization strategy.
