You should preferably display people on your website via IdM. The advantage: the individuals themselves grant permission to use their data, and they upload their own portraits. This saves you work, since otherwise you would have to obtain written consent from each person to use their data and portrait. For people without a contract, use the contact card.

Enter the person’s name.

WordPress only shows what has been released has been approved! Although this is only necessary once, it is often forgotten (include it in the onboarding). Therefore: Look at Personen.Uni-Mainz.DE in a private window, this is the only way to see the public content. This is how it works:

  • Chrome: a new Incognito window: Ctrl + Shift + N
  • Firefox: a new private window: Ctrl + Shift + P
  • Edge: New InPrivate window: Ctrl + Shift + N
  • Internet Explorer: InPrivate browsing: Ctrl + Shift + P
  • As long as you are not logged in, you will see the ” Anmelden” button in the upper right corner. This is the state in which you need to view the contact information!
  • Search for a person. If a person is not found, they have not released their data (profile and roles) and can therefore not be output! Send the person the instructions: Manage and release your own data in IdM

Link to any profile page: The IdM entry that appears links to the profile page, which leads to the JGU staff directory. Here’s how you can set a different “profile page”—specifically, a page you’ve already created in the dashboard: Provide the URL to the person whose entry you’re editing. That person then enters the URL on personen.uni-mainz.de under “My Profile – Personal Web Page.”

  • Someone is missing, even though they were successfully displayed for a while: the contract has changed. Or the OU to which the person is assigned, or their role: in that case, it helps to delete the record and create a new one. Or the person has withdrawn their consent to be published.
  • Someone is missing and cannot log in to Personen.Uni-Mainz.DE either: PHD and Bachlor are in IdM if they have registered.
  • Auxiliary staff shortage: As of January 2025, there is a shortage of the assistants, because they do not all have a corresponding account. Current solution: let them set up an account. The problem with the assistants is solved by connecting the Active Directory to the IdM/MACH.
  • External persons and cooperations (RMU) are missing: a corresponding workflow is being requested from data protection. A checklist might be sufficient here.

The main setting option in the block is the link: either the profile page, which is the default, your own web page or no link at all.
